CNIM inaugurates its new plant in China.
On 28 September 2006, Mr Vsevolod Dmitrieff, chairman of the Supervisory Board, Mr Philippe Soulié, chairman of the Executive Board, Mrs Christiane Dmitrieff, Mr Nicolas Dmitrieff, members of the Supervisory Board, and Mr Christian Tonna, Director of the Transport Division, inaugurated the CNIM Group's new plant in China. A large number of clients and representatives of the most senior local authorities attended the event.
The new plant is dedicated to the production of escalators and moving walkways. The site comprises 20,000 m2 of workshops and offices on a total area of 80,000 m2 located in Gaoming in the Guangdong province, and it employs a workforce of 80 people.
Production capacity exceeds 300 escalators and moving walkways per year.
All guests were offered the opportunity to discover all site facilities during a guided tour given by Mr Jean-Marie Lopez, Director of CNIM Transport Equipment (Chinese subsidiary of the Group).
This major industrial investment epitomizes the beginning of a new stage of CNIM's international development strategy, in particular towards the South-East Asian markets with a strong growth potential.
From now on, this new production facility allows the CNIM Group to:
- respond efficiently to the needs of the Chinese market of major public transport projects – which are representative for the growth of the whole country - including metros, train stations, airports and shopping malls.
- export the products of the Transport Division from China to other emerging countries in South-East Asia.
- supply components for its traditional markets at competitive prices.
