FOST missile-lauching systems
Since 1961, CNIM has designed and built the launching tubes used by the French Navy in its missile-launching submarines.
CNIM is ensuring the development of the M51 missile launching tube for the French Navy. This tube system,
one of the biggest of its kind ever built in France, will be made entirely from synthetic materials
(compounds, polyurethane elastomers, etc). The first test firing of this missile took place successfully
on November 27, 2003, from the "CETACE" submarine.
In addition, CNIM is responsible, under EADS supervision, for major means to integrate and validate the M51 missile :
the construction of the submarine launching module at the Landes test centre (France) designed for carrying out the missile firing tests;
the assembly workshop of the triple-stage carrier and the handling shells.
