Waste, an indispensable energy

Faced with an environmental challenge that requires maximised energy savings more than ever, the CNIM Company has now carved a place for itself as a major player in waste recovery, which is a central issue.

Waste is a treasure

Firstly in the form of materials that can be recycled, and secondly energy. Waste can be burnt without the use of external energy. On the contrary, it holds a considerable quantity itself: the combustion of one metric ton of household waste releases as much energy as 200 litres of oil. And in contrast to what might be supposed, the more material is recycled, the higher the calorific power of what is left. This means that one metric ton of selective and sorted waste residue contains as much energy as 220 litres of oil.
